When a child is harmed through a relationship, healing must also happen through healthy relationships. But for children impacted by trauma, and the caregivers and professionals supporting them, that process is rarely simple. As an adoptive mother and professional, learning how disrupted attachment shapes regulation, behavior, trust, and connection profoundly changed the way I understood the needs of children with complex trauma histories.
This session connects attachment theory, trauma research, and brain science with practical, connection-centered strategies designed to increase felt safety, regulation, and trust for both children and the adults caring for them.
Participants will explore three common impacts of disrupted attachment alongside three approaches that help foster healing, strengthen relationships, and reduce overwhelm for discouraged caregivers and professionals alike.
Grounded in both research and lived experience, this presentation offers empathy, education, and immediately usable tools that participants can implement right away in the children and families they serve.
