In this 3 hour training, Dr. Grant will present information about typical brain- and body-based differences in children and adolescents with trauma histories and the ethical responsibility mental health clinicians have in understanding how such differences significantly impact the therapeutic process. Information related to topics such as information-processing, stress responsivity, perspective-taking, the processing of time, executive functioning skills, memory consolidation, metabolism, the use of aggression, and more will be discussed. How such differences impact therapeutic interventions, relationships, and treatment goals will be considered, and the ethical implications for failing to account for these differences discussed.
