In this 3 hour session, Dr. Grant will explore how prenatal experiences continue to impact the child or adolescent client we are working with. The session will focus on the physiological impacts that may occur prenatally due to prenatal stressors, prenatal substance exposure, parental mental health concerns, and the like. The role of epigenetics will also be explored. Attendees can expect information related to topics such as prenatal malnutrition, domestic violence exposure, alcohol exposure, general substance exposure, perinatal mood or anxiety disorders, and negative affect/rejection of the pregnancy/baby to be discussed. Gentle strategies for assessing for the presence of such influences will also be explored.
